What is the Violence Prevention Fund?
The Violence Prevention Fund can provide one-time non-interest loans to assist women who have experienced violence and are looking to establish a safe and financially sustainable home. The program also works to connect women with community services and provide advocacy and assistance in navigating bureaucratic systems.
The Violence Prevention Fund is funded by the Canadian Women’s Foundation and is administered through the Vancouver Rent Bank and The Network of Inner City Community Services Society (NICCSS)
What can the loans be used for?
- Rental arrears
- Essential utilities
- Security deposit
- Moving costs
- Child-care fees
- Pet boarding
- Contact staff for other uses
Eligibility requirements for applicants
1) Identify as female
2) Are experiencing or have experienced violence
3) Looking for assistance in finding a safe and financially sustainable home
4) Have a bank account or are on income assistance
