Vancouver Inner City Better At Home

Vancouver Inner City Better At Home

Better at Home is a program that helps seniors with simple day to day tasks so that they can continue to live independently in their own homes and remain connected to their communities.

Am I eligible?

Our target population is vulnerable and marginalized Inner City residents 65 years and older who self-identify or are identified through local community organizations, outreach workers, their families, or their peers as potentially benefiting from coordinated supports.

What are the services we provide?

We provide a range of non-medical home support services:

  • Light Housekeeping
  • Shopping
  • Friendly Visits
  • Accompaniment

Who pays for the services?

The Government of BC has given United Way of the Lower Mainland funding to manage Better at Home across BC. NICCSS, as partner with United Way will accept donations, raise funds, and encourage volunteer participation in the program. Seniors who receive Better at Home services will also pay a fee for some services, based on their income. Some services may be free.

How do I apply?

You do not need to be referred. Seniors may self-refer, or a community organization may refer a senior. Please call if you are unsure.  Call or email to start the intake process.
