Recruiting: Senior Home Support Workers (Part-time On Call)

The Network of Inner City Community Services Society is looking for part- time on call home support workers to work with seniors for the Vancouver Inner City Better at Home Program. We are a non-medical home support program that helps keep seniors in their home by helping with light housekeeping, grocery shopping and friendly visiting. This position is not well suited to those workers needing a regular, full-time, predictable workload as the cases are assigned by contract only.

Qualifications:

  • This position involves flexible hours (may be some evening and weekend work) to accommodate the needs of clients
  • Current First Aid (will be able to get through NICCSS if you don’t have already)
  • Clear Criminal Record Check
  • Experience working with seniors and families and a demonstrated understanding of issues affecting these seniors.
  • Knowledge of the impact of colonization and intergenerational trauma
  • Ability to prepare service check lists/ reports
  • Good organization, time and general management skills
  • Able to work independently
  • Ability to work effectively with other program staff, referring agencies and other community professional
  • A second language is an asset

NICCSS offers a generous benefit package for part-time work, car remuneration, cell phone compensation, in-service training with Certificate, and the opportunity to experience many aspects of working in the field.

Wage: $20.50/hour depending on experience
